Have a great day...]]><![CDATA[Tapestry Weaving Project]]>Sat, 17 Aug 2024 11:19:51 GMThttps://www.beautifulcardcompany.com/beautifulcardcompany/tapestry-weaving-projectI can hardly believe my last post was made on the 26th May!  Time does fly, it's been a busy time without a doubt.
I've finished the tapestry which was on the Ashford loom, and came to the realisation I'm really hard on myself sometimes well most of the time and hey I've only been doing this since 2021! 

Tapestry weaving has not been my only source of pleasure, the use of my loom and needlepoint as well as the other creative activities I pursue.

I get quite emotional after I finish a piece of work, the planning, drawing of the cartoon the time spent focusing on one piece for several months.  It all gets a bit overwhelming.  Then with it comes the disappointment of the finished piece not being good enough! What the heck and for who? I criticise myself constantly, this is the artist side of my negative thinking.   So I finished this piece around the 20th July,  been hanging in my bedroom, from a distance I look at it and it looks okay then I start getting closer and closer and seeing all the mistakes!  I went away last week-end camping and it's the first time I've been away from home for a while.  So this morning with the sun streaming in thought about all the things I need to do today the projects that need to be finished and the new ones I want to start.  

Instead I took some time out sat in the morning sun picked up a book by Anni Albers  'on weaving' to take a step back from my own weaving constraints and bathe in the perspective of a more experienced and professional artist.  To my delight Plate 70 Coptic tapestry fragment, 5th-6th century is just what I needed to see, with all its imperfections, there is no wrong or right way to weave.  I get it yes it was made in the 5th-6th century but techniques haven't changed that much.  I need to embrace the messy side of my art! I also need to learn I don't need to make the process of my tapestry weaving process so challenging and difficult. So my tapestry project will be very different from the last three I have done with a very watery theme ... no spoilers ... here for comparison are the three I am speaking of....
Weaving for me is not just the making of tapestries,  as a practically self taught weaver its about appreciating the artistry of designers like Dom Robert, Jean Lurca, Archie Brennan, Susan Maffei, Anni Albers and so many more the list is endless....
For now I am just enjoying the process of designing and making something to leave for my daughters and grandchildren.

I try and be regular with my updates, on this website and other social media platforms, marketing does take time which leaves little time for creativity and making but now my workload has greatly diminished its super easy.   Its my eldest daughters' Birthday today and I have been thinking of her all day long...tomorrow is my dear Dads birthday ...

I can hardly believe it's over two weeks since I was on here blogging away.  Everyday something happens to keep me busy, curious and active.  

I have  been busy with my Tapestry weaving over the last couple of weeks so haven't really had much time to focus on BCC .. (beautiful card company) .. and I have been away on vacation visiting France. It's very inspiring to go away and get a taste of a foreign country, and always wonderful to come back home.

This week I shall focus on posting more of my art on my Etsy platform so if you have a moment head on over to Beautiful Card Company.... have great week everyone.

I was at the beginning stages of my mental breakdown it was such a gradual decline. I spent the long dark winter evenings with my art pad and just drew whatever came into my head … some images were quite dark and as time went on it was evident my mental health was in a mess. My partner at the time was in another country and this was first real taste of how another human can inflict cruelty and selfishness on another! Anyways back to the image :- 24 cms x 32 cms in Chalk Pastel & Charcoal ...

It's been a complete disappointment, took some time to set it up on the site,  sign up with google and so on and so forth! 
The look of my site was completely overwhelmed with adverts and possibly  the worst kind I won't mention any names but the worst of the worst so I decided to take them all down and move forward to a more streamlined website.   Something that represents me and my work and does not distract and mainly upset my visitors, I know how much I dislike adverts...its a modern irritation...

The last couple of weeks I've been working on finishing off a couple of weaving projects I had and have going and warping up my Ashford Tapestry Loom.....doing quite a lot of planning and designing working out how best to plan ...

This has been a long time coming! My updated website....after several hours of research, uploading, downloading, changing and chopping, editing. My site is beginning to take shape. 

​I think it must have been 2012 I rebranded myself as an artist from Pascaleonline.com to Beautifulcardcompany.com. 

Everything in my life was changing, country, situation, status, accommodation everything! I Went from living in the UK to moving to France in 2008 then back again to the UK in 2011. In that time I lost my business my home and my identity.  I'd been through the mill and at 54 years old rebuilding my life was no mean feat! I feel proud of myself though I've done it and it has been one of the  great achievements of my life. But it's not over yet. 

I believe in 'trusting the process' also in Angels and in God.  Today I feel blessed to have gotten this far.  I've achieved so much in one day I can hardly believe it ....

I do hope anyone who reads this will appreciate the new look? I always hope someone will either drop me a line by email or the contact box ....
